Will America Go the Way of the Hittites?

I’ve always been fascinated by the Hittites, an ancient Indo-European civilization that flourished between 1700–1200 BCE in what is now modern-day Turkey. Like the United States, the Hittite Empire was a superpower in the global politics of the period, conquering Babylon and clashing with fellow heavyweight Egypt over control of what is now Syria.
