OK Boomers, There’s Still Time!

Let’s try to fix what we got wrong.

Baby Boomers like me have been called climate killers, pension busters, and selfish workaholics. We’ve been blamed for everything from America’s poor dietary habits, toxic politics, and the dumbing-down of literature to the demise of unions and the rise of Donald Trump. Critics on the left and right attack our generation for being a cultural catastrophe, a curse on American history, a selfish, child-pampering, pleasure-seeking, gray-haired gang, that’s looting the American treasury and leaving nothing behind but a burning planet and a crushing national debt.

Well, fellow boomers, after skimming the froth from this bubbling stew of condemnation, we must accept that there are truths left swirling in the pot. Chief among them is an indictment of our own 1960s revolutionary anthem. We said we wanted to create a better world. Take a look around at the hot mess we’ve made. Is it any wonder that younger generations point their fingers at us?

Of course, we can argue that their criticisms are so much generational gibberish, typical of any changing of the demographic guard. But even when we highlight some of our greatest…
